The Brief – This is one of a number of films that we’ve produced for The Mailbox – the premier shopping and lifestyle destination in Birmingham. On this occasion, we were approached by The Mailbox and Harvey Nichols to film their exclusive Autumn/Winter 2014 Fashion Show. The brief was to tell the story of the event, showcasing the latest fashions and capturing the essence of the experience.

The Process – We knew that this shoot was going to be a fun challenge, as with any live-event, a lot of action happens in a short amount of time. With a catwalk show lasting approximately 20 minutes, we realised that capturing it from multiple angles, therefore using multiple cameras, was vital to capture all the details.

The location was the Mailbox Car Park.  We were keen to set up early, as this meant that we could see the staging and lighting set up, watch the rehearsal and pick the key positions to give us the most coverage.

The Result - This was the third time that we had filmed a catwalk show, so we felt confident not only getting the key positions but also experimented with Steadicam and tracking shots, which worked really well and added something a little different! This was a stunning film to edit and the hardest job was deciding what to leave out.

IDM helped us showcase a unique event in a unique space. It’s a key piece of marketing for us. IDM made the whole process seamless and easy, liaising directly with the event managers and different teams involved. The final edit is an upbeat, glossy film which perfectly captures the vibe of the event as well as making the seasonal fashion look stunning!
